If your normal home movies are about as badly put together as Pete Doherty’s tailoring, what you need is the world’s simplest and easiest camcorder. Trying to catch those beautiful one-off moments without the fuss and bother – and cost – of a heavy-duty model used to mean trading in quality footage for convenience. No longer, traveller.
Enter the bad boys of mobile movie making: the Flip camera range. They’re a pair of easy-peasy digital video cameras that have already taken America by storm. Their trick is to be like Herman Munster: simple, sturdy, and with a heart of gold. The Flip Ultra II and Flip Mino cameras are both so simple to use that anyone from 5 to 105 can be a miniature director: press the large button that says ‘on’, press the button that says ‘start’ and hocus pocus – you’re the cul-de-sac’s very own Stanley Kubrick all of a sudden.
Whether you’re shooting your dog dressed up like Yoda for a Star Wars re-enactment or simply your pal Dave falling off a fence in a priceless You’ve Been Framed moment, you’ll be amazed at how well both the Flip Ultra II and Flip Mino stand up to the scrutiny of critics. The Mino comes with 2GB of memory on board, which is enough for 60 minutes of filming at a crisp 640 x 480 pixels in MPG4 format. There’s no need to worry about the palaver of focusing – it’s automatic, and with a 2x zoom available you’ll be able to dispense with your Gaffer, Best Boy and all the rest of the crew. !

Remember when camcorders were bigger than Volvo estates and heavier than anvils? No, neither do we. We chose to forget about the humungous contraptions the day digital camcorders hit the scene. And looking, nay squinting, at the Muvi Micro and Atom Camcorders, who can blame us?
Impossibly titchy (we’re talking biro top here, folks), this ludicrously peasy movie cam is set to redefine the genre. One button does the lot. Moreover, at only 4cm x 2cm x 2cm (Atom), it’s the smallest camcorder in the world. You can even wear it around your neck and use it as a webcam. Try doing that with your old tape-munching camcorder. Actually, don’t. You’ll hurt yourself and break your computer.
Despite its eye-rubbing weeny-ness the Muvi records in VGA quality (640×480) equivalent to the best selling (and comparatively enormous) Mino and Ultra by Flip. Incredible! Videos are stored on the included 2GB Micro SD card, but for those of you who prefer real epics the Muvi can handle cards up to 8GB.
Wannabe movie moguls with a penchant for boxing gloves (well you never know) can rest easy because the Muvi has a special VOX mode that lets you start/stop recording using your voice (or any other noise over 65 decibels). “Annnnd….action!” It’s ideal for those moments when your hands aren’t to…erm, hand, or you feel like going on a Christian Bale style rant.

Unless you’ve just emerged from a ten year stretch in the Martian branch of the head-up-your-backside correctional facility, you’ll know that Flip camcorders have been a global smash. Operated by just a few buttons, these idiot-proof point-and-shoot moviemakers feature a flip-out USB arm and built-in software that makes uploading, editing and sending high quality vids a doddle.
But if you think that’s cool, prepare to go gaga as we present Flip’s gobsmacking new HD offerings, the MinoHD and UltraHD. These astonishing little camcorders offer all the Fliptastic features you know and love, plus (and it’s a big plus) stunning high definition video. Impressed? You should be because they’re the smallest HD camcorders in the world.
